State Street Debating Society Ltd was founded in 1947 by a group of Stamford Citizens (see HISTORY)

The organization was incorporated in 2007 in the State of Connecticut as a non profit organization. State Street operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The specific activities and purposes to be conducted, promoted and carried out by the organization shall be to debate among its members issues of local, state and national interest and to fund and support an annual scholarship program for graduating high school seniors within the  County of Fairfield, Connecticut.
